DeLynn Scholarship continues sending area students to college

Thirty-six students are attending college this fall on scholarships provided through the generosity of Jean and Laurence S. DeLynn.

The DeLynn Scholarship, managed by Your Community Foundation (YCF), provides a renewable $5,000 per year grant to high school graduates who are children or grandchildren of current or retired full-time employees of Mylan Pharmaceuticals, living or working in the greater Morgantown area.

The inaugural “Heat in the Hills” Chili Cook-Off will be held on Saturday, August 22 at Camp Muffly near Morgantown.

Andrew Martin ‘Bo’ Harper Memorial Ride slated for August 15

The second annual PFC Andrew Martin “Bo” Harper Memorial Motorcycle Ride will be held on Saturday, August 15, beginning with registration from 9-11 a.m. at Triple S Harley-Davidson in Westover.

Harper, 19, of Maidsville in Monongalia County, was killed in action on March 11, 2011 while serving with the U.S. Army at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan.
