YCF Accepting Scholarship Applications

Morgantown, WV – YCF is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2018-19 academic year.  YCF oversees 36 diverse scholarship funds primarily to benefit students in north central West Virginia.  Scholarship applications are due March 25, 2018 and recipients are announced in May.

Four scholarships are available for the first time in 2018.  These include the Brenda B. Hellwig Vocational Development Scholarship for West Virginia residents with a disability, the Frances Scarcelli Tyler Scholarship for students graduating from Notre Dame High School in Harrison County, the Terra Alta Presbyterian Church Scholarship for Preston County high school graduates, and the Angela Scotchel Memorial Basketball Scholarship for a University High School girls’ basketball player.

“YCF appreciates the opportunity to administer these scholarships which provide generous financial support for West Virginians to further their education,” shared YCF President, Patty Showers Ryan.  During 2017, more than 65 community members reviewed hundreds of applications and ultimately awarded scholarships to 82 students valued at $268,080.

To apply, applicants should visit YCF’s website, www.ycfwv.org, and click on the scholarship tab.  Most applications require financial need, an essay and letter of recommendation.
