(YCF) announces the distribution of nine grants totaling over $60,000 to local nonprofits through the YCF Community Grant Program. Awards range from $1,500 to $20,000 and support many community oriented programs, events, and activities in the region that YCF serves.
The nonprofit organizations receiving grants include: A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Empty Bowls Monongalia, Friends of Deckers Creek, Milan Puskar Health Right, Monongalia Child Advocacy Center, Morgantown Sound, Mountaineer Boys and Girls Club, Pantry Plus More, Inc. and Spark! “YCF received outstanding proposals across north central West Virginia from many important nonprofit organizations,” said Dr. Ranjit Majumder, chair of the YCF community grant committee. “Each organization serves our community in a unique and significant way. Several organizations focus on improving health and social services while others enhance arts and cultural experiences for the citizens of our region.”
“The need is always greater than the resources,” shared YCF President, Patty Showers Ryan. During the 2017 Community Grant Cycle, YCF received 20 applications with needs surpassing $230,000. “YCF is fortunate to have several donor advised funds. The donors may review applications and direct earnings from their endowment to support causes that are important to them,” added Ryan.
YCF’s mission is to promote philanthropy and build endowment funds to benefit our communities. Through financial resources, YCF extends many forms of assistance to qualified people, programs, and projects. Primarily serving north central West Virginia, YCF’s underlying goal is always to enhance the quality of life for those the organization serves.
